If you’re looking for the best portable speakers under 50 dollars, you have come to the right place!
I took the hard work out of it for you so that you can spend less time researching, and more time saving money and listening to your favorite music.
Having a quality speaker shouldn’t hurt the bank, and if you know what you’re looking for out of your speaker, my review will help you make a quick decision today!
All-in-all, most portable speakers come with some basics, and as technology grows, you usually encounter some of the most prominent features. What I mean by this is your speaker needs to come with a few select features that are a must to compete against all the name brands.
The speakers I reviewed below all come with the most important features that any portable speaker should come with.
This goes without saying, but you cannot have a portable speaker that requires a cable connection.. like what?!
Without Bluetooth, you take the “portable” out of a portable speaker. The most advanced Bluetooth out there is a 5.0, and if you’re looking at any speaker with less than your most updated 5.0, you might not get the best package. Although this depends on how you plan to use this speaker, and how far you and your phone will be from it.
The 5.0, comparable with the less recent 4.2, is a must and captures the essence of “portable” as it reaches 8x further compared to its older counter parts. Not only does it reach further, it connects faster, and its reliability of its connection is stronger and more trustworthy.
Not all the speakers below have a Bluetooth 5.0 connection, but don’t worry, I’ve put them on here because they make up for it in our ways. I also find the smaller the portable speaker, the less sound will carry (obviously), which means you cannot travel far from the speaker anyway, so having a long distance Bluetooth connectivity may prove a pointless feature.
Each speaker below has the standard IPX7 water resistant and dust resistant rating. The ratings vary, but IPX7 is a comfortable, full coverage rating that can give you peace of mind regardless of the elements you may face.
The ratings go as follows: IPX0, 1, 2, 3 and so on, through to 6 for dust, and 9 for water.
Each one of the speakers on my review has full dust resistance of the highest quality, and you can rest assured that whether you’re at the beach, at a construction site, or simply sitting in your garden, each one of these speakers will provide 100% dust resistance.
Water resistance goes to an IPX9K, which is like a crazy amount, and more than anyone would need for a portable speaker. IPX9K will manage high-pressure, high temperature sprays at extremely close range. Unless you’re power washing your car with the speaker mounted on it, I cannot imagine why you would ever need this much water resistance.
IPX7 covers water submersion up to 1 meter for a 30-minute time frame (roughly). To clear the gap, a IPX8 is water resistance beyond the 1 meter, but each manufacturer will let you know what they have tested it for and how far you can push those limits.
Every speaker below claims to be a IPX7 waterproof, but in my context I refer to it as water resistance, as I feel “waterproof” is too indestructible and unrealistic.
Please don’t dump your speaker in the water at any time. 10/10 not suggested!
Although I personally find this feature pointless, it seems to come with almost every portable speaker on the market. I am sure, depending on your use for the speaker, this feature may be something you’re looking for in your product!
Each of the speakers below comes with a built-in speaker for easy calling and answering via your phone. Some are noise-canceling, and others do not indicate they are noise cancelling. That may be a make or break for you if you’re looking for a multi-purpose speaker for conference calls etc. Insufficient noise cancelling abilities may create interruption for the listener or speaker.
Without further ado! Here are the 4 Best Portable Speakers Under 50 Dollars!
Anker SoundCore Mini – $34.99
Anker is a budget-friendly speaker brand sold predominately on Amazon. It is actually rated the #1 portable speaker for its price on Amazon.
Although the Anker SoundCore Mini may not boast all the best specs comparable with other speakers, the public was most delighted with this speaker for its price, sound quality, and reliability. This speaker also comes in 2 different colors, black and pink.
For only $34.99, this speaker is a leading contender for the budget friendly shopper. It is a compact device, sitting simply in the palm of your hand. The dimensions of this product are 3.4 x 2.8 x 5.6 in and weighs only.45 LB.
Although this speaker only comes with a Bluetooth 4.0, due to its size, the music will only carry so far, and having a longer ranged Bluetooth wouldn’t benefit you.
This speaker is best for proximity, small sized bedroom environments, and will struggle to reach full pool size lengths.
Anker SoundCore Mini has a 15-hour playtime on a single charge, and comes with a microphone and speakerphone that are noise-canceling for meetings or conferences.
Being such a small speaker, it only comes with a 5 watt audio driver and passive subwoofer. Again, this speaker isn’t designed to carry music over large areas.
Being our cheapest and speaker on today’s review, people who purchased it for their kids’ bedrooms, to carry with them on work conferences and business meetings, and for those hands-free speaker moments in the car enjoy the product and find it worth it.
If you’re expecting to cover a party with music, or bring the speaker to the beach or pool, this one may not boast the same speaker qualities you’ll be looking for.
JBL Go2 – $49.99
JBL has been a huge player in the speaker industry for sometime. I enjoy my JBL Xtreme 2 that I purchased a while ago, and find it second to none for its size and cost. I view JBL as an inexpensive brand that does an excellent job keeping up with the major brands in the music industry.
For just under $50, this speaker comes in 11 different colors, and its dimensions are 3.4 x 2.8 x 1.3 and only.39 LB. This is only slightly thinner and lighter than the Anker speaker above, making it compact. This is the smallest and most compact speaker on my review today.
Again, with a smaller speaker comes smaller abilities. This speaker has a 3 watt audio driver and a Bluetooth 4.1 capability. Being the smallest speaker on today, you can only push its boundaries so far. It also has a 5-hour playing time after a full charge.
This speaker has noise cancelling speakerphone capabilities, and boasts the popular JBL sounds. With the price of this device, you pay for the brand, and the sound quality, even if it won’t “raise the roof” at your next gathering.
Ortizan Portable Speaker – $49.99
Now to the less popular brands.
These next two speakers are larger, and will carry sound for larger lengths. However, with a cheaper brand and slightly bigger portable speaker, you know you may not get the best sound quality, and would need to consider increasing your budget with more popular brands to get better quality that carries further.
They do however, come with some features not displayed in the above two. Again, depending on what you’re looking for, these could be exactly what you wanted!
The Ortizan speaker comes in 5 different colors and displays flashing lights on either end of it that sync to the beat of the beat. The speaker is an eye catcher, that will hype up any gathering. Its dimensions come in at 8.03 x 3.66 x 3.58 inches, and weigh just over a pound.
This speaker boasts a 24 watt audio driver, giving it that longer length than the above two speakers. It also carries the most advanced Bluetooth capabilities, with a 5.0 that pushes up to 66 FT connectivity.
With 4 different speakers on all sides, no matter which way this speaker is angled, you’ll experience 360 degree sound. It also has TWS functions, allowing two or more of the same speakers to connect from across the room. This gives it the ability to create a surround sound experience.
Being a larger speaker, it carries a larger battery and battery life, running for 30 hours! It also displays EQ functionality, allowing you to go from vocal, to deep bass, to extra bass.
Lenrue A15 – $38.99
Lastly, the Lenrue A15.
This speaker comes in at 7.8 x 4.21 x 2.8 IN and 1.1 LB. It carries a 14 watt audio driver, just under the Ortizan, but definitely better than the first two speakers.
It also boasts the 5.0 Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for longer distance connections and more reliable connections. The speaker only comes in black for a color, and lasts up to 20 hours of play-time.
Although not as dynamic as the Ortizan, the Lenrue has a bass boosting button to enhance the amount of bass coming through the speaker.
Although this brand fits a satisfactory price range for size and features, I always get concerned that a speaker doesn’t have its own website. This speaker was definitely built to be mass-produced, and likely will come with many small issues, as per some comments.
So.. What Will You Choose?!
Each speaker above boasts different features, some you may be interested in, and some you may have no need for.
I hope this review has given you some options within your price range to feel confident in your next purchase.
At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a speaker that carries a second to none sound quality, reliability, and functionality, I suggest upping your budget, as there are many quality speakers in the $100 dollar range.
However, I hope you found my review of the Best Portable Speakers Under 50 Dollars helpful, and I look forward to helping you in my next review!
